Deep Clean Time!

I love cleaning and I thought it would be nice to put up a page about cleaning. Why do I love cleaning? What could possible bring someone joy to clean their house? It's easy.  There are a ton of cleaning products out there and I like seeing dirty stuff get clean.  I'm not going to name drop, but I have my favorites out there in the cleaning world.  What I will tell you, is what a deep clean should entail and why you should do a deep clean and the steps on how to do a deep clean by yourself in one weekend!

You need to create a plan and luckily, I have done that for you.

Start from the top and work your way to the bottom and go room by room.  Here is exactly what I did:

All Bedrooms

  • Room by room take off all bed linens and drapes and start the laundry!
  • Dust and vacuum the ceiling fan blades
  • Dust and vacuum the blinds
  • Dust any hard surfaces
  • Clean the windows
  • Vacuum or dust the top of the door frames, the doors, the doorframe by the hinges.
  • Vacuum or dust the baseboard and follow up with a dryer sheet.  Dryer sheets help prevent dust from accumulating. Trust me, it works!
  • Remake the bed
  • Put up the curtains
  • Vacuum the carpet
  • Shampoo the carpet
DONE!

Hallways

  • Dust and vacuum air registers
  • Dust any picture frames or hard surfaces
  • Dust and vacuum baseboards.  Follow with dryer sheets
  • Vacuum carpet
  • Shampoo the carpet
DONE!

Stairs

  • Wipe the railings, top, sides and underneath.  It gets filthy underneath the railings.
  • Dust the baseboards.  Follow up with a dryer sheet.
  • Vacuum the carpet
  • Shampoo the carpet

  • Dust and polish table
  • Dust and polish chairs
  • Vacuum chair cushions
  • Shampoo chair cushions
  • Dust and vacuum blinds
  • Vacuum any rugs
  • Mop
DONE!

Kitchen

  • Take out items from cabinets (one cabinet and drawer at a time) wipe down and put everything back in nicely and throw out anything unused, old or broken.  Wipe down the fronts of the cabinets and drawers
  • Clean counters
  • Clean the dishwasher (yes, clean the dishwasher.  At least clean the crack at the bottom where the door hinge is. That gets yucky.  Wipe down the front.
  • Clean the sinks (they get yucky too)
  • Wipe down any appliances
  • Wipe down refrigerator surfaces shelf by shelf, drawer by drawer and throw out anything old. Wipe down the front.
  • Rinse out trash cans outside
  • Wipe oven and microwave. Follow up with car wax. Wax on and wax off. It makes black appliances gleaming and beautiful.
  • Sweep/ Vacuum.
  • Mop
DONE!

Laundry Room

  • Vacuum behind appliances
  • Vacuum the dryer filter
  • Wipe outside of the appliances
  • Fill up the wash tub with HOT water and bleach and scrub away. Get all of the crevices bright and shiny. Let it go through the wash cycle.  I like to actually do a load of anything that needs bleached at this time.
  • Mop
DONE!

Bathrooms (I did this room by room, I didn't save it until the end)

  • Wash all towels
  • Scrub shower
  • Wipe counters
  • Wipe outside of toilet
  • Scrub the bowl
  • Dust baseboards. Follow with dryer sheet.
  • Mop

There you have it. An entire deep clean in one weekend.  Is it exhausting? Yes.  Is it worth it? Yes.  You will feel better sleeping in a clean house.  Just make sure you give yourself a nice reward after everything is done :)

Because a gleaming stove is what it's all about!
